This site was set up by Brendan King in 1997 as an academic research resource. At present, it comprises over 700 pages and includes almost the whole of Huysmans’ published writings, numerous pieces of contemporary criticism, book reviews, journalistic profiles and detailed bibliographic information.
Brendan King recently completed a PhD on Huysmans’ life and work. He has published translations of Là-bas (Dedalus Books, 2001), Parisian Sketches (Dedalus Books, 2004), Marthe (Dedalus Books, 2006), Against Nature (Dedalus Books, 2008) and Stranded (Dedalus Books, 2010). He has also revised and annotated the second edition of Robert Baldick’s seminal biography The Life of J.-K. Huysmans (Dedalus Books, 2006), which was first published by the Clarendon Press in 1955.
