As for M. Huysmans, we have always suspected that he is a young man of an exquisite but carefully concealed humour. We are sure of it since, following his revered master, M. Zola, with humble steps, he has in En Rade described at great length the coming into the world of — a calf. The parody on Pot-bouille could not be better.
