Correspondence de J.-K. Huysmans et de Madame Cécile Bruyère
Edited and annotated by René Rancoeur
Paris: Editions du Cèdre,

These letters were originally published in La Pensée Catholique no. 13, 1950. Huysmans described Bruyère as ’a person of almost superhuman intelligence and, what is more, a saint’. Although he had condemned Bruyère’s treatise De l’Oraison, on Dom Besse’s authority, in En route, when he read it he was so impressed he wrote to her and said he would make amends in his next novel, which he did in Chapter X of La Cathédrale.

This example is one of 200 copies produced for sale by Pierre-Marie Lambert at his press, Chez Durtal. It is numbered and initialled by Lambert.
